In its concluding press release to the media, Husum Wind 2023 mentioned CNC Onsite’s precision machining for flanges of a diameter of 10 meters. As offshore wind turbines become larger so do the flanges, for example flanges for transition piece of some 10 meters can be expected to be more common in the future.

CNC Onsite has developed an orbital precision machine called “Goliath” that can successfully mill flanges to within one millimeter precision. The two wind turbine flanges must match that precisely to ensure reliability. This support bolt tension and can help prevent bolts from loosening in ring flanges using bolted connections.
